She Shed

The term She Shed emerged in the English language not too long ago. She Shed is the female equivalent of a man cave - a sanctuary where she can escape her spouse, nagging children, work and other obligations and just relax. Contemplation.
For me, my project She Shed is about an examination of gender roles, of gender identity, a struggle against exclusion of any kind, which the title of my work should make clear. The focus of my work should not be on being a woman, but on a feminist positioning.
For She Shed I photographed artists in New Zealand who have created their own sanctuary where they can relax and pursue their interests.
